The 39th International Junior & U23 Regatta in Bratislava once again confirmed its status as one of Europe’s most important development competitions in canoe sprint, bringing together a deep international field at the Zemník venue in Slovakia.
Held at the same course that hosted the 2024 ECA Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships, Bratislava continued to demonstrate why it has become a key centre for youth international canoe sprint competition.
The opening day once again highlighted the overwhelming European dominance in wildwater canoeing.
A total of 27 nations are represented in the championship start lists, with 21 of them coming from Europe — meaning European countries account for approximately 78% of all participating nations.
Following the Krakow round, the 2026 Paddle Europe Slalom Cup has entered a decisive phase, with the overall standings beginning to take shape after six competitions across Europe. The Polish venue once again delivered highly competitive racing, attracting many of the continent’s leading slalom athletes and significantly reshuffling the provisional rankings ahead of the summer events still to come in Bratislava, Prague and Cesson Sévigné.
